Ahmed, an agricultural engineer, returns to his village in the southern valley where his father works as an agricultural supervisor. He succeeds in improving the sugarcane crop. He has loved the Pasha’s daughter since they were young, but he is challenged by the Pasha’s secretary who covets marrying Nadia. This coincides with the Pasha’s anger at him because he monopolizes the export of sugarcane after the improvements he made to it. The Pasha takes advantage of a dispute that arises between the sheikh of the estate and the supervisor, so the Pasha’s secretary shoots the supervisor and frames the sheikh of the estate.
